Due to its location, many people are apprehensive to visit Dubai during the summertime.
Naturally, people think that the harsh summer heat of the Arabian Peninsula will leave them confined to their hotel room.
While it’s true that it does get quite hot in Dubai from June to September, you may be surprised to find out just how much there is to do in Dubai in summer. Dubai is an ever-growing city, and there are always new places to see and experiences to try, even during the summer months.
There are many well-known activities such as visiting the malls or indoor skiing, but we decided to put together a list of some of the more unique activities.
These are the top 3 best things to do in Dubai during summer.
1. Platinum Heritage Desert Safari

Many people think that there isn’t much to do in Dubai over summer because of the hot weather, but did you know that a desert safari is an activity you can do all year around? The temperature in the desert is a few degrees cooler than the city and it’s always a lot breezier out there! . . 📷@im_ksun . . #dubaitraveladvice #dubai #visitdubai #mydubai #mydxb #dubailife #dubaibloggers #dubaitravelers #dubaidaily #dailydubai #beautifuldestinations #ilovedubai #thingstodoindubai #thingstodoindubaicity #dubai🇦🇪 #uae #dubailifestyle #ramadan #ramadankareem #dubaisummeractivities #desertsafari #desertsafaridubai #vintagelandrover #middleeast @dubai @visit.dubai @mydubai @dubailifestyle
It may seem counter intuitive, but out in the desert it can actually be 7-10 degrees cooler than in the city. This is because there is no moisture in the sand, so the heat doesn’t get trapped like it does in the city.
If you’re looking for things to do in Dubai in summer, I always recommend going on a Platinum Heritage desert safari. Not only does it give you an opportunity to escape the heat of the city, but it also allows you to experience the culture and heritage of Dubai in an authentic way.
Their safaris are great during the summer because they do a lot to mitigate the heat and keep things comfortable.
Platinum Heritage is known for using open top vintage Land Rovers on their safaris, but they have air-conditioned vehicles as an option as well. They also keep their camps quite cool by setting up fans inside of the tents.

If you are looking for a tour of Dubai in summer, we definitely recommend to try the one offered by @hero_dubai: you will get so close to iconic landmarks such as @burjalarab and @atlantisthepalm, you will drive your own boat along Dubai coastline and you don’t even need a license to do so! Tag a person you would want to do this with! . . 📷@ruth.iee_ . . #dubaitraveladvice #dubai #visitdubai #mydubai #mydxb #dubailife #dubaibloggers #dubaitravelers #dubaidaily #dailydubai #beautifuldestinations #ilovedubai #thingstodoindubai #thingstodoindubaicity #dubai🇦🇪 #uae #dubailifestyle #ramadan #ramadankareem #beahero #dubaisummeractivities #burjalarab #middleeast @dubai @visit.dubai @mydubai @dubailifestyle
If you have an adventurous side and want something fun to do in Dubai during summer, try going on a HERO OdySea boat tour.
HERO OdySea is the only company in Dubai that allows you to drive your own boat.
This gives you the opportunity to cruise along Dubai’s coastline to some of the city’s most iconic landmarks. You can get great photos of sights like Downtown, Burj Al Arab, and Atlantis, all while enjoying the cool ocean breeze.
Spending a day out on the water is a must do activity in Dubai during summer. It feels much more pleasant than walking around the city, but it still allows you to see all of the sights and do some exploring.

3. Green Planet
As the name implies, Green Planet is an indoor man-made tropical rainforest inside of a massive glass dome. It’s home to over 3,000 species of plants and animals, as well as the world’s largest man-made tree.
At Green Planet, the rainforest is recreated in layers just as it would be in a natural environment. You start at the top of the forest in the canopy, and make your way down to the ground floor via a walkway that spirals around the edge of the dome.
There are tons of free roaming animals throughout the dome including various species of birds, and even a sloth. They also have several interactive shows such as a sloth encounter, a sugar glider encounter, and feeding shows for some of the animals.
To mimic a natural environment, the inside of the dome is temperature controlled. It stays around 24-28 Celsius year-round, making it one of the best things to do in Dubai during summer.

Being located in the desert, it’s common for people to assume that Dubai is a hot place. However, the city has adapted to the heat and manages to stay busy year-round.
A trip to Dubai during summer doesn’t have to mean being trapped in your hotel room all day. Even with the hot weather from June to August, Dubai can still be a great place to visit.
There is always a new place to go, and there are more than enough summer activities in Dubai to keep you busy.
Whether you’re exploring the desert, cruising along the coastline, or wandering through an indoor rainforest, there’s never a shortage of things to do in Dubai during summer.
